The third hearing in the lawsuit filed by ADOR against the members of NewJeans regarding the validity of their exclusive contracts will be held today at the Seoul Central District Court.
The Civil Agreement Division 41 of the court, presided over by Judge Jeong Hoe Il, is set to proceed with the hearing this afternoon. ADOR filed the lawsuit against NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, seeking confirmation that their exclusive contracts remain legally binding.
The dispute began in November last year when NewJeans held an emergency press conference announcing the termination of their contracts with ADOR and its parent company HYBE. The group claimed an irreparable breakdown of trust. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the contracts’ validity and requested an injunction to maintain its role as the group’s management agency while preventing the members from signing new advertising deals. The court approved the injunction.
During the second hearing held last month, NewJeans’ legal representatives rejected the idea of reconciliation. The court asked whether a settlement was truly off the table, expressing a desire to encourage dialogue. However, NewJeans’ side responded that trust had been completely broken and that reconciliation was no longer possible. ADOR’s side suggested that once the court delivers a verdict, further negotiations might become easier.
NewJeans recently marked their third debut anniversary but have remained inactive due to restrictions on their independent activities resulting from the ongoing legal dispute.
