On July 24, the Seoul Central District Court held the third hearing in the ongoing lawsuit filed by ADOR against NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, seeking confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contracts.
Despite significant anticipation from fans, particularly a large turnout of international supporters from countries like China, the members did not attend. Many fans were spotted near the courthouse, wearing NewJeans-themed merchandise and holding photocards, hoping for a brief appearance.
Instead, the group was represented by their legal counsel, continuing the trend of non-attendance seen in the first two hearings. The only exception was a court session in March concerning an injunction, where all five members made a rare appearance.
This latest no-show contrasts starkly with the fan excitement surrounding NewJeans’ third anniversary, marking the group’s debut in 2022 with hit tracks and global recognition.
The dispute began when NewJeans moved to terminate their contracts with ADOR and HYBE last November, citing a total loss of trust. ADOR responded with an injunction and a lawsuit.

So far, the court has sided with ADOR, issuing an order that bars NewJeans from independent activities. Violations could lead to ₩10 billion (~$7.7M) in penalties per member. At the second hearing, the court proposed a settlement, but NewJeans’ lawyers rejected it, saying, “There is no going back.”
With the legal battle ongoing and public sentiment divided, NewJeans continues to remain inactive following their last performance at Hong Kong’s ComplexCon. As fans wait for updates, the group’s future remains uncertain—both legally and musically.
