On November 20, NewJeans’ Minji replaced her profile picture on the fan communication platform Phoning. The new image features a screenshot of Eunwoo and Jungwoo, the two sons of former fencing national team member Kim Jun-ho, who are currently appearing on KBS2’s “The Return of Superman.”
Minji has consistently shown affection for Eunwoo and Jungwoo. Previously, she stated, “I’ve been watching over Jungwoo and Eunwoo for some time now. I felt a strong desire to meet them in person, which led me to appear on The Return of Superman.” Given her fondness for the children, the updated profile picture might simply reflect her interest in them. However, since this change coincided with Min Hee-jin, former CEO of ADOR, officially parting ways with HYBE, it has sparked various interpretations.
On November 20, Min Hee-jin announced, “I have resigned as an internal director of ADOR and terminated the shareholder agreement with HYBE.” She explained that she had devoted all her efforts to protecting NewJeans but accused HYBE of persecuting her by framing her as a “usurper of management rights,” engaging in a witch hunt, and presenting her with a production contract filled with unreasonable clauses. Min Hee-jin further alleged that HYBE feigned negotiations while secretly engaging in media manipulation and withholding R&R (roles and responsibilities) contract documents, actions she described as “atrocious acts that will go down in history.”
In response, ADOR commented, “We find it unfortunate that Director Min Hee-jin unilaterally informed us of her resignation. We remain committed to doing our utmost to support NewJeans’ growth and success.”
As of now, NewJeans has not released an official statement. However, on November 13, the members issued a certification of contents demanding Min Hee-jin’s reinstatement, a thorough investigation into HYBE’s internal documents, strict measures to address any misconduct, and a public apology from the manager who allegedly instructed others to ignore Hanni. They warned that they would terminate their contracts if their demands were not met.
