Basking in the holiday spirit, NewJeans members have made a special charity for a social cause, sending a positive and inspiring message to their fans ahead of the Christmas festivities. Announced by ChildFund Korea on Thursday, December 19, NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein have made a generous donation of $100 million (Rs 59 lakh approx) to support children and adolescents. The donation was made to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation.
The group’s charity comes at a time when they had already announced the termination of their exclusive contracts with the agency ADOR. Without mentioning the group’s name, the donation was made under their fandom ‘Bunnies’.

As a part of this, Green Umbrella will use the funds to support 30 families across South Korea, focusing on their various needs like living expenses, housing, education, and health care. The amount will also help those young children to achieve independence through career development and employment opportunities.
“Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein donated 100 million KRW to reduce the caregiving burden on children and adolescents caring for their families at the end of the year, helping them find balance in their lives and focus on their growth,” ChildFund Korea said in their statement, as quoted by Allkpop. On the other hand, the members also shared their thoughts on the initiative, explaining that they want to support the children and the adolescents’ healthy growth who have been caring for their families. “We will continue to show our interest so that the children can find and achieve their dreams,” they added.
The latest move by NewJeans left their fans pretty impressed with many taking to social media and praising the girls. A section of fans have also decided to make the donations under the designation of the group’s new title “jeanzforfree.”
NewJeans recently made headlines over the termination of their contract with ADOR, followed by the establishment of new social media accounts continuing independent activities. In response to the new handles, their agency also released a statement on December 18, stating that such activities have been done without prior consultation and in violation of the contracts, prompting enquiries and complaints from advertisers and third parties. “We hope the NewJeans members will continue to communicate with fans through official channels as before,” the statement added.
