On January 16, NewJeans Hyein appeared as a guest on the channel ‘Dazed Korea’ where she shared her thoughts.
Hyein began by mentioning her debut and the moments that stood out to her. She shared, “I joined as a trainee the latest. What remains strongly in my memory is the first time I saw the older members—they were beautiful, angelic, kind, and pure.”
She added, “The process of all of us gathering together for something, living together, practicing, and preparing toward one goal was meaningful.”
Her second keyword was ‘summer.’ Hyein explained, “We debuted on July 22. When we debuted, the members gathered at our dorm and watched the ‘Attention’ music video together. Even back then, I felt that this time was very precious.”
Next, she revealed ‘winter’ as the third keyword, saying, “When I think of winter, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘Ditto.’ It was winter during the promotions, but it felt very warm. It was our second comeback, and the music video had a lot of stories in it, with ‘Ban Hee-soo’ appearing in it. That’s why it felt meaningful, as we had our first comeback with a music video where Bunnies (fandom of NewJeans) appeared. From the preparation process, it felt like we were doing it with Bunnies, and it was a very meaningful activity.”
The next keyword was ‘people.’ Hyein shared, “Looking back, I’ve realized that I’ve had many amazing and wonderful adults around me. Recently, I’ve been feeling that a lot.”
She continued, “My relationship with Bunnies, especially, feels very special. I want to meet them often and have many conversations, and I want to be closer and more familiar, but there are many reasons I can’t do that. Still, I find it amazing that they love us so much.”
Meanwhile, NewJeans is facing a conflict with their agency, ADOR, regarding their exclusive contract. NewJeans claims that their exclusive contract with ADOR has been terminated, while ADOR has filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court to confirm the validity of the contract.
