On April 22, NewJeans’ Hyein reached out to fans in a deeply personal way—by posting handwritten letters in celebration of her birthday, despite currently being on hiatus due to legal conflicts with her agency.
Hyein uploaded several photos to the mhdhh_friends account she shares with fellow NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, and Haerin. Alongside snapshots of herself writing, she shared notes expressing gratitude to fans who celebrated her special day.
“I tried writing short letters to Bunnies (our fandom name),” Hyein captioned the post, referring to NewJeans’ official fandom name.
To one fan, she wrote, “Thank you for looking at me as a person and giving me advice. It really helped relieve some of the burdens and worries in my heart.” To another, she expressed, “Reading your letter gave me more courage.” Each note reflected deep sincerity and appreciation.
Hyein also included a message addressed to “all Bunnies.” She thanked fans for the birthday wishes, adding, “Each letter was a great source of comfort and strength. I truly wanted to reply to every single one.”

She also expressed concern that some fans might feel hurt if they didn’t receive a personal reply and asked them not to be too upset, saying, “I consider all of our supporters equally precious.” She concluded by calling it a truly meaningful birthday thanks to their love and encouragement.
Hyein’s heartfelt gesture comes at a turbulent time for the group. In November last year, NewJeans attempted to leave ADOR over trust issues and rebranded as NJZ. However, ADOR filed legal action to uphold their contracts and block independent activities. The court sided with ADOR, halting the group’s promotions. NewJeans’ appeal was rejected, and the case remains under review, leaving their future uncertain.
Amid the legal tensions and enforced hiatus, Hyein’s letters served as a touching reminder of the strong bond between idols and fans. Her messages were a quiet yet powerful affirmation of appreciation, warmth, and resilience.
