NewJeans independently announces appearance on ‘Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show,’ ADOR responds.
Girl group NewJeans has announced their appearance on CBS’s ‘Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show’ without prior consultation with their agency, ADOR. On December 24th KST, ADOR released a statement, saying, “The appearance on the program was independently decided and arranged by the artists without any discussion with the company. ADOR was not informed of this beforehand.”
Earlier, during the closing segment of ‘Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show,’ host Kim Hyun Jung teased the group’s appearance, stating, “Tomorrow’s Christmas special will feature five young women—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.” Notably, she referred to the members by their real names rather than the group name, NewJeans, sparking attention.
Currently, NewJeans is pursuing independent activities after declaring the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR as of midnight on November 29th. At the time, the group stated, “The fault lies with HYBE and ADOR, so there is no reason for us to file a lawsuit or pay any penalties.” In response, ADOR has filed a lawsuit seeking confirmation of the validity of the contract with the Seoul Central District Court.
ADOR has voiced concerns over the group’s independent actions. On December 18th, the company stated, “We hope that the NewJeans members will continue to communicate with fans through the official channels as before. Any entertainment activities conducted via separate accounts could lead to legal issues, and we have communicated these concerns to the artists and their legal representatives.”
