It appears that NewJeans and their agency ADOR have once again failed to reach a settlement.
On August 14, the Civil Settlement Division 41 of the Seoul Central District Court held a mediation session for the lawsuit filed by ADOR against NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, seeking confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contracts.
Minji and Danielle attended the session and simply said, “Sorry,” before heading to the courtroom. The closed-door mediation lasted about an hour and 20 minutes, but it was reported that both sides failed to reach an agreement.
The court plans to hold another mediation session on September 11. If mediation again fails at the September 11 mediation session, a ruling will be delivered on October 30.
However, in December last year, ADOR filed a lawsuit asking the court to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts, claiming NewJeans had unilaterally notified them of contract termination. In January, the court granted ADOR’s injunction request to “preserve the agency’s status” and “prohibit the group from advertising contracts,” stopping the members from engaging in independent activities.
While ADOR maintains that the exclusive contracts are still valid and seeks a settlement, NewJeans insists that trust has been completely broken and has no intention of returning.
