Minji and Daniel, members of the group Newzins, attended the mediation date for exclusive contract litigation with their agency, Adore.
The Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Department 41 (Chief Judge Chung Hoi-il) will hold a settlement date for Adore’s exclusive contract validation lawsuit against the five members of Newgens at 2 p.m. on the 14th.
On this day’s adjustment date, New Jeans members Minji and Daniel appeared as representatives. The two headed into the building to attend the mediation, without expressing any particular position.
The court decided on July 24 to refer the case to mediation. The mediation committee is a procedure that induces the court when it judges that it is desirable to resolve the conflict between the two sides smoothly through compromise rather than a ruling.
Newzins and Adore have been parallel since the beginning of the exclusive contract dispute.
Newzins maintains its position that “the trust relationship cannot be broken or the exclusive contract cannot be continued,” while Odor counters, “There is no reason to terminate the exclusive contract.”
The court designated a non-disclosure adjustment date for this day and demanded the attendance of the members of the New Jeans. If the mediation breaks down, the sentence will be sentenced on October 30.

The conflict between the two sides came to the surface when Newzins held an emergency press conference in November last year and notified Adore of the termination of the exclusive contract. Since then, they have declared that they will start independent activities under the new activity name ‘NJZ’.
Then, Audor filed a lawsuit against Newzins on December 3 last year to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract, saying, “Just because you unilaterally claim that trust has been broken cannot be a reason for termination.” On January 6, he also applied for a ban on preserving the status of an agency and signing an advertising contract.
On March 21, the court accepted Odor’s request for injunction against the ban, such as preserving the status of the agency and signing an advertising contract, and decided that Newzins should not be engaged in independent activities.
Nevertheless, the members stood on the Hong Kong concert stage under the name of NJZ, and Odor countered with an indirect compulsory application. Indirect coercion is an order to pay a certain amount according to a delayed period if the court decision is not implemented.
The court accepted the indirect compulsory application on May 29 and ruled that Newzins should not engage in entertainment activities without prior approval or consent from Adore until the first trial of the exclusive contract is ruled. It was also decided that each member should pay 1 billion won per violation if they violated this obligation and engage in independent activities.
