The personality test MBTI was all the rage in Korea, and many K-pop idols actually use their results in self-introduction. Additionally, since MBTI results can change, many took to it as changes in their personalities, and curiously, some NewJeans (NJZ) members have actually seen different MBTI results throughout their careers.
Below is a summary of NewJeans’ MBTI results as taken in a YouTube video in December 2022, and how they have changed over the years.
Hanni
Hanni’s MBTI is INFP, the same result she got in 2022. In particular, INFP people are idealistic, sensitive, and creative individuals who seek meaning in life. Minji agreed with this result, saying that Hanni has the most vivid imagination in NewJeans, and Hanni is known to have an open-minded personality that embraces all possibilities and can flexibly adapt to different situations.
However, Minji believes that Hanni doesn’t fit the typical introvert profile. Addressing this, Hanni explained that she only opens up to people she is familiar with and tends to avoid conversations in unfamiliar settings. As a classic INFP, Hanni has a tendency to procrastinate and only acts when necessary. However, her flexibility allows her to achieve great results. She also admitted that while she starts projects with enthusiasm, she often abandons them if she loses interest.
Danielle

Danielle’s latest MBTI result is ENFP, which has changed from ENFJ since NewJeans first took the test in 2022. Minji expressed some disappointment over this, as NewJeans has now lost its only J-type member.
As an extrovert, Danielle is always uplifting the atmosphere. The group shared that Danielle is very thoughtful and always knows how to compliment others, from encouraging Hyein after performances to complimenting Minji, who often feels shy when looking in the mirror after removing makeup.
As a textbook ENFP, Danielle is naturally curious and makes friends easily—she simply cannot stay still. Whenever she hears music, she can’t help but dance along. She also admitted that she feels left out if people do something without her. Her emotions are always clearly reflected on her face and through her actions. While she loves exploring new things, Danielle tends to struggle with long-term persistence.
Hyein

Hyein is another NewJeans member whose MBTI result has changed. Her new MBTI type is INFP, a slight shift from her previous ENFP result in 2022. This means her personality has moved from extroverted (E) to introverted (I).
According to the other NewJeans members, Hyein is a balanced and adaptable person. This flexibility allows her to adjust to different situations but also makes it difficult for her to take the MBTI test—since MBTI categorizes personalities into distinct groups instead of using a spectrum. Additionally, as the youngest member, Hyein’s sense of self is still developing, which means her MBTI could continue to change in the coming years.
Minji

As the eldest member of NewJeans, Minji experienced adolescence the earliest, and as a result, her MBTI has changed three times. In 2022, she received the MBTI result of ESTJ. This personality type values tradition and order, is honest and dedicated, and makes clear distinctions between right and wrong based on socially accepted values. Then, by mid-July 2023, Minji shared that her result had shifted to ENTJ. While ESTJs tend to be cautious and make decisions based on what they have seen and heard, ENTJs are more confident in their instincts and trust their intuition.
However, by late November 2023, Minji’s MBTI had changed once again, this time from ENTJ to ISFJ-A. ISFJs are known for their deep sense of altruism. They act as a solid shield, always ready to sacrifice for their loved ones. Their strong empathy allows them to create a peaceful, warm atmosphere that provides a sense of security to those around them.
Haerin

During the group MBTI test in 2022, Haerin received the result of ISTP. However, by late September 2023, she shared during a Phoning live session that her MBTI had changed to INTJ.
INTJs are considered one of the most enigmatic and intelligent personality types. They often play a key role in solving complex problems. Their optimistic mindset helps them find solutions even in difficult situations. INTJs have a strong desire to learn and constantly push their limits to create positive changes in their surroundings.
This change in MBTI reflects Haerin’s personal growth. Previously, she spent a lot of time observing and analyzing everything based on logic and evidence. However, Haerin has learned to trust her intuition more. She has also become more optimistic and positive, no longer holding back—showing the true traits of an INTJ.
Conclusion

The MBTI results above were revealed at the end of 2023, before NewJeans faced major challenges with their agency, HYBE. Now, they have rebranded as NJZ and are expected to return to the music scene soon with new styles, as Danielle mentioned. With a shift in musical direction and various challenges, there’s no telling whether the members will retain their current personality.
