Group Newzins’ “Ditto” surpassed 700 million streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.
According to Spotify on the 13th, the track “Dito” from the single album “OMG” by Newzins (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Harin, and Hyein) was played 7116,492 times as of the 11th. It is the second 700 million-streamed song in Newzins’ career following the album and the title song of the same name, “OMG.”
“Dito,” which was pre-released on December 19, 2022, is a song that features a warm melody and warm vocals from New Jeans. With this song, Newszins entered the US Billboard main song chart “Hot 100” and the UK official single “Top 100” six months after its debut. In addition, “Dito” topped the overall annual chart in 2023, setting a milestone of “No. 1 on the chart for 99 consecutive days” on Melon, a major domestic music site.
The American music magazine Paste also cited “Ditto” as one of the “2020s’ best songs.” The media praised “Dito” as “a representative work that perfectly shows Newzins’ position in the genre they are pioneering and their explosive star quality.”
“Dito” is still in the top ranks of major domestic music charts, just ahead of its second anniversary. New Jeans’ unique popularity pattern, which is evenly loved regardless of new songs and previous works, has been reproduced again this year. Thanks to this, they ranked fifth in the most streamed K-pop artists in Spotify’s recently released 2024 year-end settlement. This is the highest ranking among K-pop girl groups on the list.
Newzins has produced a total of 14 Spotify billion worth of streaming songs so far. More than 700 million times for “OMG” and “Dito,” more than 600 million times for “Super Shy” and “Hype Boy,” more than 400 million times for “Attention,” more than 300 million times for “New Jeans” and “ETA,” more than 200 million times for “Cookie,” “Hurt,” and “Cool With You,” more than 200 million times for “ASAP,” “Get Up,” “How Sweet,” “Supernatural.” The cumulative number of Spotify streams of all songs they have released so far exceeds 5.5 billion.
