Kesha is looking out for K-pop sensation NewJeans after the South Korean girl group faced a major setback this week.
The group, made up of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, had been fighting to cut ties with their label ADOR after the firing of their mentor, Min Hee-jin.
However, a South Korean judge ruled against the group’s attempt to end their contract. In the wake of the decision, the 38-year-old American singer-songwriter took to social media to share a heartfelt message of solidarity.
In a social media post on late Wednesday, October 29, the Praying songstress wrote, “My heart is with you NewJeans.”
She penned the brief yet supportive message on X (formerly Twitter), punctuated with a single red heart emoji.
Although the Tik Tok singer doesn’t have a personal or public connection to NewJeans, she knows exactly what it’s like to fight for artistic freedom.
Nearly ten years after her own legal battle with producer Dr. Luke, Kesha seems to be paying it forward by showing support for the k -pop group
For the unversed, Min Hee-jin, the now former CEO of ADOR, launched NewJeans in 2022, and the group quickly became an international sensation.
However, things took a turn in 2024 when Min was removed from her position and later left the company altogether.
After Hee-Jin’s removal NewJeans tried to end their contract with ADOR, which led to a legal fight between the two sides.
This week, a Seoul court ruled that Hee-Jin’s firing wasn’t enough reason for the group to cancel their seven-year exclusive contract.
