Non-disclosure adjustments between the group Newzins and its agency Adore, which are in dispute over exclusive contracts, have failed for now. The court will proceed with additional mediation procedures on the 11th of next month.
The Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Department 41 (Chief Judge Chung Hoe-il) held a settlement date at 2 p.m. on the 14th to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract filed by Adore against the five members of Newgens.
Prior to the adjustment date, New Jeans members Minji and Daniel appeared as representatives. Previously, the court demanded the attendance of the New Jeans members.
Minji and Daniel arrived at the court at 1:40 p.m. and headed to the court, answering “I’m sorry” when asked “how do you see the possibility of adjustment?” and “What conditions do you think are necessary for an agreement with Dorr?”
They went through a closed-door mediation process for about an hour and 20 minutes with agents from both sides, but it does not appear to have reached an agreement. The court decided to proceed with one more adjustment date on September 11.
After the first adjustment, Minji and Daniel left the court without answering any questions from reporters.

Newzins and Adore have been in parallel since November last year, when they started an exclusive contract dispute.
At the time, Newzins notified Adore of the termination of the exclusive contract, citing the breakdown of trust, and Adore filed a request for a provisional injunction for the ban, including a lawsuit to verify the validity of the exclusive contract, preserving the status of an agency, and signing an advertising contract.
As the court accepted the request for provisional injunction in March, Newzins will not be allowed to engage in entertainment activities without prior approval or consent from Adore until the first trial of the exclusive contract lawsuit is ruled.
The difference in position continued in the main lawsuit. Newzins maintained its position that “the trust relationship cannot be broken or the exclusive contract cannot be continued,” while Odor responded, “There is no reason to terminate the exclusive contract.”
In the end, the court decided to refer the case to mediation on July 24. The mediation committee is a procedure that induces the court when it judges that it is desirable to resolve the conflict between the two sides smoothly through compromise rather than a ruling.
The court plans to sentence the court on October 30 if the mediation finally breaks down.
