NewJeans Members Danielle And Minji Show Up At Court For Mediation Talks
This mediation session comes after three previous hearings about the lawsuit and is part of the ongoing legal dispute between ADOR’s former CEO, Min Hee Jin, and its parent company HYBE. HYBE’s role is crucial in the case as it owns an 80% stake in ADOR and accused Min Hee Jin of attempting to take over control of the company’s management. Min Hee Jin, in response, alleged that HYBE was interfering with ADOR’s creative independence and even accused the company of plagiarising NewJeans’ concept.
In May, ADOR also filed lawsuits against all five members of NewJeans to seek legal confirmation that the company still has the sole authority over their contracts despite some members seeking to terminate or renegotiate the terms of their contracts. The reason why a mediation is held today in court for this matter is to avoid a lengthy legal trial by mediating the issue at hand.
Newjeans Danielle and Minji showed up at court today, marking one of the rare appearances that the idols have made since the start of this dispute. Despite arriving separately, they were photographed entering the courthouse, garnering a lot of attention from the media.
The court has stated that it will provide a final decision in October if mediation fails to produce a settlement. One of the most crucial points in their argument is this mediation. This settlement will greatly impact the future of NewJeans and their career, hence it holds significant importance.
