Fashion editors say ‘I’m sold’ about new jeans colour that will be huge for spring/summer – and it’s already in shops

BROWN has had the fashion world in a spin, from sumptuous suedes to delicate sheer. 

But now it’s time to turn your attention to chocolate denim. 

While blue, black and even white will never be out of style when it comes to your jeans, there is always room for another colour to keep your outfits looking current. 

They’ve been a hit on Hollywood A-listers like Dakota Johnson and J.Lo, and are now available on the high street. 

Mango’s jeans flew off shelves, but are thankfully back in stock and at the top of Deputy Fashion Editor Abby’s list, while Fashion Director Tracey says the warmth of the rich colour suits her silver hair.

In my somewhat limited neutral colour spectrum, brown fits in nicely – and it can work with yours, too. 

Brown jeans are the refreshing hit we needed injecting into our denim game and are easy to wear day-to-day, but also look great for the evening. 

I’ll be wearing this brown Reiss pair with a tonal cream palette and touches of gold jewellery, like this Boden chunky necklace that I just love. 

A timeless blazer is an essential for any wardrobe and this one from Very has been updated with a thin belt that shapes the bulky silhouette of the tailored jacket. 

Grab a tonal bag like this M&S one, or another in brown or black and, paired with these delicate leopard kitten heels that scream designer, you’ve got yourself an expensive-looking outfit for less.

I’ve never really thought about trying brown jeans before, but I think I’m sold. 

A modern feel on a classic black jean, they are not only great for this time of year, but also won’t look out of place in summer. 

I’ve decided to keep my outfit fairly tonal with some other shades of brown for the accessories. 

Suede loafers are very popular at the moment and these ones from Hush look super-comfortable. 

Adding a knit vest from Zara with added button detailing down the side and my current favourite accessory – a neckerchief – to give the outfit a little more interest. 

I’ve finished the outfit off with some gold earrings and I feel like I’ve given my brown jeans a grown-up makeover. 

But I’d also wear them with an oversized T-shirt and trainers for a dressed-down approach.

Chocolate brown has been a surprise hit for me.  

Since I let my hair go grey, I usually stay away from dark colours, but there is something about the warmth in a rich brown that I love. 

Step forward the new jeans tone on the block. 

Warmer than blue and cooler than black, chocolate brown denim might just be the piece of casualwear that adds an edge to your weekend wardrobe.

I’ve teamed mine with a soft cashmere cape, a crisp white shirt, and a woven leather bag.
