On March 24, their legal representative, Sejong Law Firm, issued an official statement, saying, “We are the legal representatives of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. Currently, the spread of false information, malicious slander, and defamatory posts against our clients, including a minor, has reached a critical level.”
The firm further stated, “We are continuously monitoring all online communities and social media platforms, including TheQoo, Instiz, Blind, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, DC Inside, FM Korea (Femko), and Daum Cafe.”
They emphasized that they are working with relevant authorities to identify anonymous users behind defamatory posts and comments. “We will take all possible civil and criminal actions against those responsible for spreading false information, defamation, and insults,” the firm warned. They also provided a way for fans and the public to report malicious posts.
Meanwhile, on March 21, all five members of NewJeans submitted an objection to the court’s ruling on their legal dispute with ADOR. The court had fully accepted ADOR’s request for an injunction preventing NewJeans from signing independent contracts or engaging in commercial activities outside of their agency. Following the ruling, the group immediately began legal procedures to challenge the decision.
Since November 2024, NewJeans has claimed that their contract with ADOR was terminated and announced plans to pursue independent activities. However, with the latest court ruling, they are now unable to proceed with any music-related activities such as songwriting, composing, performing, and singing, as well as commercial engagements like television appearances, events, and advertising deals.
As their legal struggle with ADOR continues, NewJeans is also gearing up to combat malicious online attacks, signaling an intense fight ahead both in and out of the courtroom.
