The former ADOR group NewJeans, consisting of Danielle, Haerin, Minji, Hanni, and Hyein, marked a new chapter in their career by reintroducing themselves as NZJ. This came after the quintet parted ways from their agency ADOR in November last year. They did not just take upon a new moniker but have also launched separate social media channels, one that is not operated by the agency.
On February 27, NJZ made a bold move by unveiling their new logo and their new social media accounts other than Instagram. They set the internet abuzz by launching their own independent social media channels on X, TikTok and YouTube, thus taking another step towards reinforcing their new identity. These new updates were shared by the quintet through their Instagram Stories, and it immediately left the fans excited as they had been eagerly waiting for the group’s next move.
However, their new move is not devoid of any retaliation from ADOR. Just a day after the announcement of NJZ’s new accounts and logo, the HYBE subsidiary broke their silence on the matter, issuing a firm statement regarding the quintet’s latest move. ADOR claimed that the creation of these new and independent accounts was unauthorised and a direct violation of the group’s existing contract.
“As we stand by the point that our exclusive contract with them is valid, we are currently judging how to approach this legally. NewJeans’ official social media that they use to communicate with fans, as well as their YouTube, TikTok, and all their other accounts, were made without the prior agreement that was included in their contracts,” ADOR Stated, as quoted by Koreaboo. “Posting contents outside of their official account, as well as promotional activities violate their exclusive contract, and we hope that they will rein themselves in, for it will confuse the fans and commercial clients.”
During a previous broadcast, the quintet suggested that they were working under a different management after leaving ADOR. Moreover, the sudden rollout of multiple official accounts across social media, which often require a structured team for content and strategy, has only intensified speculation. While NJZ has yet to confirm anything about its management, one thing is clear that they are seizing control of their digital presence in a way that is different from their former agency’s model.
Despite the hiccups on their way, NJZ has remained steadfast in moving forward. After rebranding themselves, the quintet is set to take the stage at the ComplexCon 2025 Hong Kong in March.
