As of February 12, news broke that Hanni, a member of the popular K-pop group NewJeans (now NJZ), has successfully obtained a new visa.
According to Hankyoreh, Hanni received the visa through an administrative officer, though details about the type of visa or the company involved have not been revealed.
Hanni, who holds dual citizenship in Australia and Vietnam, had previously renewed her E-6 Entertainment Visa annually through her agency, ADOR. However, after the members of NewJeans (now NJZ) announced their decision to part ways with ADOR, uncertainty surrounded the renewal of Hanni’s visa.
In response, ADOR confirmed that the group’s exclusive contract remains intact and that all necessary paperwork for a visa extension had been prepared.
Meanwhile, some malicious fans falsely reported Hanni as an illegal resident. In a recent session of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, lawmaker Park Ji Won raised concerns and called on the Ministry of Justice to take immediate action. “A famous idol, Hanni, is at risk of being deported due to an alleged illegal stay,” Park stated. “I urge the Ministry of Justice to ensure that artists like her can continue their careers without unnecessary obstacles.”
In related news, the members of NewJeans (now NJZ) have announced their decision to change the group’s name and will release a new single on March 23. They will also perform at the ‘Complex Live’ event, taking place from March 21 to 23 at the ‘AsiaWorld-Expo’ in Hong Kong.
