It has become a hot topic that a HYBE staff member used a body camera to inspect the dorm vacated by NewJeans.
On the 13th, ADOR announced that they recently applied for an injunction to “preserve the status of the agency and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts, etc.” against the members of NewJeans at the Seoul Central District Court.
ADOR stated, “Until the first trial ruling on the ‘Confirmation of Validity of Exclusive Contract’ filed by ADOR at the Seoul Central District Court on December 3 of last year, ADOR recognizes itself as the management company under the exclusive contract and seeks to prevent the NewJeans members from independently signing advertising contracts or conducting advertising activities without ADOR’s approval or consent.” They added, “This decision was made to prevent confusion and potential damage to third parties, such as advertisers, as the NewJeans members, who unilaterally declared the termination of their exclusive contracts, continue to independently contact advertisers and sign contracts.”
ADOR explained, “This injunction reflects our intention to remain with the members of NewJeans. If market and industry confusion continues due to their independent actions, the brand value of NewJeans, ADOR’s only artist, will inevitably decline. This could result in a loss of competitiveness for ADOR as a management company and lead to a management crisis. Even if the court later rules that the exclusive contract is valid, it might already be too late to restore the original state.”
ADOR further emphasized, “We have consistently provided all necessary resources and facilities for NewJeans’ activities based on our position that the exclusive contract is valid, and we plan to continue doing so. ADOR has received various external proposals for projects such as advertisements and events and has internally completed activity plans for this year, including the release of a full-length album and a fan meeting. We have communicated these plans with the members of NewJeans.”
On November 28, NewJeans held an emergency press conference to announce the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR, stating, “We will terminate our contract with ADOR as of midnight on the 29th. Since the fault lies with HYBE and ADOR, there is no reason to sue, nor do we have any obligation to pay penalties.” In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit on December 3 to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract.
After finishing their schedule in Japan in early December, NewJeans vacated the accommodations provided by ADOR. Since then, the group has acted independently, using their own transportation for schedules involving ADOR.
When NewJeans left the dorms prepared by ADOR, it became a major topic of discussion that a HYBE staff member reportedly used a body camera to inspect the accommodations.
As the legal battle continues, many are questioning whether NewJeans and ADOR will ever reconcile. Attention remains on the court’s upcoming decision and its implications for the future of both parties.
