NewJeans’ Minji has garnered attention for her outfit during a recent radio appearance, as the group continues its independent path after declaring the termination of its exclusive contract with ADOR.
On December 25th, Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein appeared on ‘CBS Standard FM’s Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show’ Christmas special.
During the broadcast, host Kim Hyun Jung, seemingly aware of the ongoing contract dispute between NewJeans and ADOR, introduced the members by name without mentioning the group’s name, drawing attention. Hani performed her self-composed song ‘Darling Darling’ and was visibly emotional, sharing, “It was a really tough time for us, and the song was important to me, so I felt it was crucial how it was released. It was hard to sing each time. It felt like the wounds hadn’t healed yet.”
However, it was Minji’s attire that particularly sparked buzz. She wore a T-shirt featuring the name Min Hee Jin and an image of Min Hee Jin at a press conference. The shirt showed the NewJeans members positioned between Min Hee Jin, along with the phrase “Come in for a match,” and a message Min Hee Jin had sent to Bang Si Hyuk saying, “Are you enjoying yourself?”
As news spread that NewJeans would be appearing on Kim Hyun Jung’s News Show, ADOR, currently embroiled in a contract dispute with the group, issued a statement saying, “The artist independently decided to appear without prior discussion with the company. The company was unaware of the appearance in advance.”
After the broadcast, NewJeans shared a post on their newly created account, saying, “We did our own hair and makeup for the radio show. We did well, right?”
Earlier, on November 29th, NewJeans declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR, citing the company’s failure to address breaches of the contract. They announced their decision to pursue independent activities. However, ADOR opposed their stance and filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court, seeking legal confirmation that the exclusive contract remains valid.
