NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) appeared on CBS Radio’s Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show on December 25(KST), where they shared reflections on the past year and their aspirations for 2025.
Host Kim Hyun-jung introduced the group without revealing their name, calling them “five angels.” The members, visibly excited, greeted listeners, saying, “This is our first radio appearance in two years, and we’re thrilled.” Notably, the five members introduced themselves by their individual names without mentioning the group name, NewJeans. The group set the warm, festive tone of the season by performing ‘Silent Night, Holy Night’. Minji explained their song choice, saying, “This year has been tough for many people. We wanted to deliver comfort and happiness through this song.”
When asked about their most memorable moments of the year, Danielle shared, “I became closer to my members. Simple moments, like having dinner together, made me really happy.” Minji expressed gratitude for the unexpected resurgence of their song ETA: “Even though it was released last year, it gained fresh attention this year, and the fan response was unforgettable.” Hanni reminisced about the song’s reception overseas: “We debuted ETA exclusively at Lollapalooza in the U.S., and it was amazing to see it loved internationally. Watching people enjoy the performance through videos was incredibly fulfilling.”
Haerin reflected on her personal growth: “This year brought significant changes for me. I’ve grown through various experiences and learned more about the world and my members.” When the host mentioned that she looked forward to their activities next year, the members enthusiastically shared their wishes for 2025.
Hyein emphasized health, saying, “Let’s stay healthy.” Minji wished for universal happiness and peace, saying, “I hope the year is filled with joy and free from suffering for everyone.” Haerin added, “I hope our team continues to understand one another and stay close, just like now.” Hanni shared her ambition: “I want to perform on a grand stage in Korea. I’m envisioning a stage where we pour everything into our performance, and I’m excited for it.”
Meanwhile, NewJeans continues their activities amid ongoing disputes with their agency, ADOR, over their exclusive contract. Regarding their radio appearance, ADOR commented, “The appearance was conducted independently by the artists without prior discussion with the company. We were not informed about it in advance.”
