On the 19th, ChildFund Korea (led by President Hwang Young-ki) announced that Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein donated 100 million won under the name of Bunnies to support children and adolescents in family caregiving roles. These are young people who take care of family members suffering from old age, disabilities, or illnesses, previously referred to as “child breadwinners.”
The members explained their motivation, “We decided to make this donation to help relieve the caregiving burdens of children and adolescents in family caregiving roles and support them in reclaiming their personal growth and routines.”
They added, “Through this donation, we aim to provide essential support for their healthy development and independence. We will continue to show interest and support so these kids can discover and achieve their dreams.”
The donation will be used to assist 30 households nationwide, providing aid for living expenses, housing, education, and medical needs, as well as supporting career exploration and employment for these children and adolescents.
Shin Jung-won, head of the Social Contribution Cooperation Division at ChildFund Korea, remarked, “We hope this support helps relieve the daily burdens of these children and adolescents, allowing them to focus on their growth and independence. We will continue to provide diverse forms of support to ensure more children can grow up in warmth and encouragement.”
Notably, the NewJeans members, who recently informed their agency ADOR of their decision to terminate their exclusive contracts, did not use their team name for this donation, opting instead to act under their individual names.
