Newzins, a group that announced its separation from its agency, said it would like to be with Min Hee-jin, former CEO of Airdore in the future.
Newzins (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein) held an emergency press conference on the termination of their exclusive contract at 8:30 p.m. on the 28th in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
On the same day, the members of New Jeans declared, “I would like to inform you that New Jeans and Adore will terminate the contract from midnight on the 29th.” Daniel continued, “The scheduled schedule will continue. Thank you so much to advertisers who always support us. I want to tell you that you don’t have to worry. We have no intention of damaging others by terminating the contract, and we don’t want to.”
Minji said, “I think a man of courage changes the world. I was encouraged by seeing the members of New Jins, CEO Min Hee-jin. Among the words the CEO said, “I want to make a precedent.” “People make a lot of resolutions in their lives, but it’s not easy to keep those resolutions with their lives,” he said, adding, “If possible in the future, I want to work with CEO Min Hee-jin.”
In addition, when asked if he had anything to say to Chairman Bang Si-hyuk of Hive, Newzins members dismissed it, saying, “I have nothing else to say.”
Earlier on the 13th, Newzins sent proof of contents to Adore under the real names of five members. In their proof of content, the members demanded that “all serious violations of the exclusive contract we are addressing within 14 days from the date of receipt of this letter” be corrected.
Newzins’ demands in the proof of content included an official apology from the manager who told Hani to “ignore” and the return of former CEO Min Hee-jin. In particular, there was an item that it would terminate the exclusive contract if it was not corrected within 14 days, drawing attention.
In this regard, Adore said on the 27th, “This statement is the implementation of measures based on the artist’s proof of content,” and in response to the revelation that Hani’s manager told her to “ignore” through a YouTube live broadcast in September, “Please show mutual respect for Hani’s damage without taking it lightly.”
However, Odor did not officially disclose his position on other issues, including Min’s return. Adore’s answer to the content certification is due on the 28th.
Newzins’ next move is expected to be an application for an injunction to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract. If the court accepts this, the members can act independently until the outcome of the main lawsuit is reached.
However, the cancellation of the exclusive contract and the penalty are separate issues. If Newzins terminates its exclusive contract with Adore, the penalty to be paid is estimated to be 450 billion won to 620 billion won. However, the size of the penalty may vary depending on who has more reasons attributable to breaking the contract, between Odor and Newzins.
